Traverse is a hiking app that uses augmented reality (AR) to improve the hiking experience. While on trail the user can use their phone to view the highlighted trail, campsites, shelters, available water sources, road crossings, and possible emergency turn off points if they needed to get back to town quickly. The app also displays alerts that could impacts the user’s hike such as wildlife sightings, hazardous weather, fire warnings, or wildlife conservation areas. In short, Traverse helps take the pressure off hikers by providing the logistics of their hike at a glance. Users can have a safe and enjoyable hike knowing they are following the correct trail and any upcoming features.
